Right, last time I wasn't sure what army list I was gunna use for the Badab War Campaign. However now I have, i decided I would go for the siege list, it just seemed so cool. So far I've made 1 and two half lists, I say two half lists as its actually the same list just with the addition of one thing, an expensive, point and money wise thing, but still one thing, :P
depending on which list troop choice will be taken up with normal tactical squads with Vet Sgt and no other upgrades except either a rhino or Siege Mantlets. HQ is a siege master or three depending on size of list. which will go with the Devastators to make use of his signum on the lascannons, 2 of 4 lascannon's hitting on 2's should be a tad helpful.
Chapter wise I'm thinking of staying away from dark angels just for this campaign as I'd like to try out Cypher, so I am contemplating using Imperial Fists Chapter Tactics as they are the siege specialists back in the pre-heresy Era. Plus they get some nifty rules which are cool. However do I paint up some marines in proper Imperial Fist attire or go with a successor chapter that is green, hmmmm, again choices....

Early Christmas Present.
Well this morning Parcel force delivered the Christmas present that I'd bought myself, Air compressor and airbrush, had a quick play already just using some paper and was actually quite fun. Need some more practice on my thinning skills as I wasn't sure if I got the mix quite right yet but the more I do it the easier I will find it Right?

Badab War Choices
Starting in February my gaming club is starting a Badab War Campaign, While I am very much a Dark Angel player, when asked which side I wanted to be on I said I didn't mind, so this week I find out I will be on the secessionists side, that,s the traitors side. Going through the Badab War books you come across two different and interesting Army lists, Tyrants Legion and Siege Assault Vanguard.
Both lists seem to have something that appeals to me, the tyrants legion lets you have a mix of marines and guardsman while the siege list offers an increase into the amount of heavy support choices I would be allowed to take, and the two things I always take in abundance is Tac and Dev squads, I am very much a volume of fire player.
problem with the Tyrants Legion list is Dark Angels aren't exactly part of the Tyrants, yes I know it doesn't really matter what colour they are painted but to me it doesn't really seem right. Siege list on the other hand has the really cool and fluffy siege objective rule, where I give my opponent a marker to place as an objective no matter what the game type however the problem with this lies with, unless I can control that specific objective by the end of the game the best I would get would be a draw. Also until I get clarification from Forgeworld I'm not sure if I can use Deathwing as normal Deathwing in this army list, it may not seem much however the Deathwing Deep Strike rule is have the fun of having Deathwing is it not.
So what do I choose, one of these cool lists or just a normal list?

A Storm's a'coming
I havent done this recently but a few months ago I got hold of a Storm Eagle from ForgeWorld, While it is a very nice model but boy what a bitch to put together.
Evn though it wont really be seen in all its great detail I started by painting the interior, drybrushing the plates and braces and picking out the finer details like computer screens and such.
Then came time to attaching both sides to the base plate, this proved to be fiddly as I wasnt able to fully straighten the sides fully without risking breaking the pieces at the narrow door bottom...
Next the top Plate was attached and I picked out all the panel instruments, I hadnt seen the cross panel that the levers he's holding onto attach to until to late so at the moment not sure if its the best picture really... I'll let you decide...
Cockpit canopy plate got painted seperately and then attached in place. I then masking taped off the hole in the cockpit ready to paint (Spray with Army Painter Angel Green) the rest of her.
Just before spraying I decided to use some of Forgeworlds Etched Brass.
And then here's the pretty much finished article, there are still a couple of things I need to do but its about 80-90% done
Taming the Contemptor
Here's a Work in Progress I've been playing with, A Contemptor Dreadnaught for the Angels,
Most of the body work is done, just need to paint up the arms and feet, then sort out the base for it.
These things are such good fun to build, all the ball and socket joints do was advertised and allow a huge amount of versatility when it comes to posing them. Arm / Weapon wise, I decided to go for 2 Kheres Assault Cannon's, 12 Rending shots cant be to bad, and also a twin-linked Autocannon and Lascannon, to give myself some choice when fielding him, as I wanted the choice I just added some small 2x1mm disc neodymium Magnets that I bought from Anvil Industry, Service was very speedy and excellent, I had also bought some little weapons and some cloaked legs from them which I used to make some marines.
The Kheres Assault Cannon's turned out to be a bit of a mare to assemble as the barrels come seperate from the main body and the muzzle ring and require glueing in, which turned into a pain with my fat fingers.

The Epic Journey
The other day the Grumpy Wargamer invited me and two friends on a trip to Warhammer World for a Game of 40k. We left quite early but due to bad traffic didn't arrive till about 11am. As you arrive you get greeted by this, a Supposed life size Rhino, now looking at the side doors and rear hatch, I'd have trouble getting in and out god knows how a fully armoured 7foot space marine is gunna manage it, but I'm sure they do some how...
Before we started to game, we had a look around the place and a quick sport of lunch, Food was really nice, took a gander in the onsite shop and the Hall of Miniatures. I'm in no means a great painter but I can do tabletop quality if not slightly above if I really concentrate and put the effort in, and even I could tell that the array of miniatures before me were absolutely spankingly amazing, the make me look really crap by comparison, but hey I don't mind as I try my best and that's all that counts.

After all this we settled down at our table and started playing a 2-on-2 with 2500 pts per person, on our side we had Necrons, Dark Angel's and Guard, and on the other we had Tau, Dark Eldar and Dark Angels. In my opinion it was the Fallen with the evil Tau and Sadistic Dark Eldar. After a very quick 4 or 5 hours playing we called it to an end with a victory towards the combined Imperial and Necron Alliance. My what a Fantastic day we had, I would love to return again one day soon and try a few of the other tables to play on.
Car Music for the journey that took centre stage was the Transformers the movie soundtrack, the actual great movie from back in the 80's, the music on there is still great to this day.
Hello
Well here is my first blog post and I shall start to introducing myself, I'm The D.A.Di, not just because I'm a Gamer Dad but it also stands for The Dark Angel Diary, see what I did there.
I Started 40K back in around the end of 2004ish, I just dabbled with painting guardsman and marines cos they looked cool, then after a fair few months, in the window of my FLGS(Friendly Local Gaming Store) I saw an advert for a local gaming club so off a toddled and for the first few weeks had a few games and got hooked on gaming, fast forward a few years and I started working Saturdays, Club day, So I had to stop going, which was a shame as I still really enjoyed playing, fast forward again to Aug 2013 and it was time to leave work and start University. So off I toddled to that same club again to see if it was still up and running.
Thankfully it still was, I meet some old friends and even some new one's, one of those new one's even introduced me to the Pre-Heresy era, for 40K, well 30K really but why quibble. which leads me to starting this Blog which will follow the Journey of my original Dark Angel army and see the Introduction of its newer older Brother the Dark Angel Legion.
